  Penny skateboards is a new take on the ol’ banana board style mini cruiser skateboards. Once hugely popular in the 1970’s, they fizzled out because they were not able to keep up with the natural progression of the sport, until the Australians utilized modern day advancements in plastics, alloys and composites to reignited the mini cruiser banana board concept with a product that has to be seen to be believed. Penny skateboards initially released in Australia, New Zealand followed by and the UK and Europe and the USA at the end of 2011.

Bouncy Happy People saw these Penny boards in Australia in 2011 being used for commuting to the beach and school, tricks and Cruisin' by boys, girls, young and old; and we loved 'em and wanted to see them in the UK. It seemed that Penny skateboards in Cornwall would be a natural cultural fit and within a year, the brand became an international phenomenon. Each Penny board complete is ultra-portable and features a custom 3” Penny branded hanger truck.

Customer comments Got my Penny Nickel skateboard delivered to the UK from the US. To be honest, when it first came, on the first ride it just felt like any other board bit after a while, you start to feel the subtle flex in the board which makes it different to most cruisers. I'm an average sized guy but I think it'll be really great for bigger riders out there or people who want a penny, but are worried about the tiny board and wheelbase. Its also better i you want to chuck some little tricks into the mix as the larger size makes this much easier and more stable. It's also great for those slightly longer cruises as again, because it's bigger, you don't have to worry too much about foot placement. Great board overall but do I prefer my Penny original mini cruiser: you can find wooden alternatives to a Nickel but I've still never ridden anything else quite like the original Penny. I'd give this board a solid 7.5 out of 10.
