68% better than running! Why taking a few minutes to jump on a trampoline delivers so many health benefits

Friday, November 11th, 2011

Young or old, bouncing on a large or mini trampoline delivers health benefits -fast!

It is the preferred exercise for astronauts at Nasa, who used trampolines as part of the rigorous fitness training in the 1980s and 90s. Nasa undertook studies on the benefits of trampolining and found it 68% more efficient than jogging.

When you bounce in the air you reach a weightless state and then on landing you reach twice the force of gravity on each boubnce. The shift in gravity is believed to benefit musceles, cells and the lymph system. This fights fatique as it strengthens the glandular system including the thyroid, pituitary and adrenal glands.

Everyone loves trampolining, especially if outdoors on a larger garden trampoline where the mental benefits of being in fresh air, in the ‘green gym’ mentally refreshes too.  It is hard not to smile as you work hard on keeping your body tight on the upward bounce. This trampolining improves balance, coordination, and cardiovascular fitness. The lower impact will stimulate bone density and not damage joints.

The new in ground trampolines are safe and look good. Don’t Over do it ….and smile!
