China came out on the top tonight, adding three Gold and two Silver medals to their record, followed by host Russia, who garnered two Gold and one Silver, and Portugal with one Gold. Overall, these world championships medals were divvied up between eight nations.
Britain did consistantly well and was just off the medal podium, injury and bad luck played a small part but this team looks promising for 2010 in france.

Sunday, November 15th, 200917 year old Emma Smith selected for GB trampoline team and becomes a 2012 Olympics hopeful
Thursday, August 13th, 2009HIGH flier Emma Smith could be winging her way back to Russia after being selected to represent Great Britain in the World Age Group trampoline Games in November.
This is a self-funding trampoline event and so the globe-trotting 17-year-old will need to raise £1,800 to take part in St Petersburg.
In the spring, Emma Smith a 2012 Olympics hopeful spent time at a World Cup training camp in Moscow, working with the legendary Russian trampoline team.
Smith, a member of her hometown club Aerodynamic at Kingsway Leisure Centre, Widnes, has bounced back from serious injury in fine style.
Winner of the 2008 European Junior Championship in Denmark, she last month took a superb third place in the senior ladies’ event in the British trampoline Championships at Birmingham’s National Indoor Arena.
Smith was the youngest competitor in the field and the podium finish was a tremendous achievement as earlier this year she had a stress fracture of the fibula.
Her club’s head coach Helen Shaw said: “Only 14 girls managed to qualify for this event – most of them experienced international senior performers – eight going through to the final round.
“Emma went into the finals in eighth position but her steady nerve and solid routine took her through to third place in a very tense final.”
Team mate Amy Sims competed in the over 19s female event.
She made it through to the finals and finished overall seventh.
Another Aerodynamic star Bryony Page also competed in the open-age event, finishing in seventh place.
Shaw said: “We would like to thank Focus Institute of Gymnastics for providing additional training facilities for the squad, Halton Borough Council and Halton Youth Bank.”
