The space hopper was invented in the late 1960’s by an Italian called Aquilino Cosani, his company produced gymnastic exercise balls. He adapted the product and a craze was born. Introduced into the UK in 1969 the orange Space hopper became the ultimate iconic toy of the seventies. The familiar face design was apparently supposed to be a kangaroo. Bouncy Happy People have a really good reproduction in the Science Museum Giant Retro Space hopper, its big enough for adults so you can relive your misspent youth, and when you’re finished you can give it to your kids so that they can misspend theirs!
