Well the weather seems to have perked up a bit AT LAST and we’ve been having a few nice dry days – Perfect for Garden Games! The sun has got his hat on hip hip hip hooray! At last the sun has come out again, maybe we’ll be able to get a few more trips to the beach in before the wintry weather sets in. In the spirit of outdoor games, olympics and world championships, the Fourth "Smite!" World Championships were held in Cornwall on August bank holiday, the sun shone on more than 180 entries from as far afield as Australia, Canada, Zimbabwe and Switzerland!
Eventual winners were:

World Singles Champion: Andy Cooke from Liskeard, World Doubles Champions: Andrew and Paul Balfour from St. Neot, and the Junior Championship was taken by the Zimbabwean pairing of Aiden and Aimee Smith.

Worth mentioning is the fact that all four of the singles semi- finalists came from Devonport High School for Boys.
A veritable academy of Smiting!

The Graham Macleod award for insensitive smiting again went to Graham Macleod!!

Next year, there is talk of having a BBQ lunch break between events with live music. Whatever happens, the Fifth World Champs will be in St. Neot on August Bank Holiday 2009!! Why not get your Smite, and hone those Smiting skills now.
