I thought it would be up his alley as he loves to construct elaborate train tracks and such, but I didn't anticipate just how much he would enjoy making marble runs and how creative he could be with them. I think he is at the perfect age for this toy, because he is old enough to understand the different parts and how they differ from one another...a younger child would probably need some parental help distinguishing between the diffent types of blocks. This toy has an ingenious feature, which is that the box has a guide for where all the pieces go when you put the toy away. It makes putting the toy away easy and kind of fun. My only complaint is that already after two weeks my son feels as though the set doesn't have enough pieces. Luckily his birthday is in another two weeks so maybe we'll buy an expansion set. Anyway years of fun for all ages to be had with this huge set' ..
